Profile of a Longneck woman. Approximately 300 Burmese refugees in Thailand are members of the indigenous group known as the Longnecks. The largest of the three villages where the Longnecks live is called Nai Soi, located near Mae Hong Son City. Longnecks wear metal rings on their necks which push the collarbone down and extend the neck. They are a tourist attraction. Tourists visit Nai Soi to take pictures of the Longnecks and buy their handicrafts. The villages are criticized by human rights organizations as human zoos.
